During the last week of term the normal school timetable is suspended while students engage in arange of activities under the heading of Creativity, Action, and Service. These activities are designed to develop skills and attributes in the students as well as broaden their knowledge and experience. Several groups are going overseas to Nepal, Australia, China, London and New York. All these trips are activity based and involve a service to the local community. In Nepal our students will not only be trekking (action) but also working in a local school (service) helping children from a less privileged background. The New York trip will be studying Art and design in many of the galleries and museums in the city. The London trip is theatre and drama based with workshops or students and opportunities to see live shows and the work that goes behind the scenes. There are also many activities taking part on the school campus and around Abu Dhabi, these include creative writing, pottery, Sports Leaders, work experience, local history, land and water based activities, musical performance, Arabic study and several other art based projects. Students have an opportunity to opt for one of these activities which they will study for the week, this rarely happens in a school where a student can concentrate on one area for such a length of time. Students will also learn and develop personal responsibility, leadership skills, global awareness and by the end of the week they will have an opportunity to reflect on how they have developed as individuals.
