Students applying for a place at Al Bateen
School, who are not already attending an Aldar Academies School, will be
required to complete Cognitive Abilities Tests (CATs), which assess a range
of reasoning skills. The tests look at verbal (words), quantitative (numbers),
non-verbal reasoning (shapes and figures) and spatial awareness. The test
results, which are for school use only, help us identify the strengths and
potential for each student, preferred styles of learning and how we can further
support your son/daughter with their studies in each subject. The results are
meaningful to teachers in helping to plan learning and the curriculum.
Bateen School is inclusive but needs to be sure that a student can access the
curriculum (which is taught in English), enjoy their learning, make sufficient
academic progress and have the support required to be a successful learner.
If a student achieves low CAT scores, the
school may invite the student to complete additional entrance testing in
English and Mathematics.
